Final Reflection

The Most Formative Experience

I believe the first assignments - the ones that required us to begin thinking of a business idea - were the most formative. I had no idea what to do for my business idea, and I was scared I was not going to think of anything worthwhile; however, I incorporated my work experience and education in entomology to create something I consider important. I'm glad I pushed myself to create a product with some meaning.

The Most Joyous Experience

The venture concept. I loved writing this because I had so many ideas concerning my product. I loved organizing these ideas into one "concept." It helped me feel organized.

The Worst Experience

I dreaded the pitches. I do not like the way my voice sounds when recorded, and I know I can be awkward in front of a camera. I dreaded these assignments, but I'm glad I did them.

Reflection

I do not see myself as an entrepreneur; however, I believe I have gotten better at thinking in an entrepreneurial way. I believe I am better at defining what makes a product "good" and defining the market of this product.

Future students should understand that this class is "different." It can be fun, boring, challenging, or easy. This class is whatever you make it. I like how there were few assignment guidelines because this allowed me to "freestyle" write, meaning I didn't have to think about my writing style much.

Overall, I enjoyed this class and creating a bed bug trap and lure. I hope everyone else also had a positive experience.

I chose this picture because the class is now officially over, and this song is called "I Know It's Over. It's a great song, and this has been a great class.

  1. I think it’s really cool that you had no idea what to do at the start, but really looked at your experience to create something. It’s intimidating to start a business, but it’s also a really incredible journey. The class is definitely “different,” so some students will really struggle. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for all the positive feedback on my blogs! Best of luck!

  2. Hey Ashley,

It's pretty sweet that you looked to your prior experiences in order to find out what your venture for the duration of the course to be. That being said I find it particularly useful that we are able to keep this blog with us forever as it is a tool we can have to look back and use the assignments we did as a means to make changes to our venture should we need to.
