Segment: People who live in apartment complexes

Need awareness: When their neighbor reports a pest problem or they begin noticing bites on their skin or bugs in their house.

Information search: They Google phrases like “bug bites,” “bugs in home,” “bed bugs,” or “brown bugs.” People commonly mistake bed bugs for small cockroaches and google “cockroach treatments.” They may research different pest control companies or ask their landlord/peers what to do.

Most people are not able to identify household pests. The majority of people who have bed bugs in their apartment do not know what bed bugs look like. They may google “brown bug in home” in order to find out what pest they are dealing with; however, most people become aware of the problem after a report from their neighbor. In this case, they may be aware that the pests in their apartment complex are bed bugs. They may google “bed bug treatment” or “neighbor has bed bugs” while searching for a solution.

People may become aware of bed bugs in their apartment or apartment complex after the problem is reported by a neighbor. They may also begin to notice this problem after they begin receiving bites or seeing bugs. In response to this, they may attempt to identify the pest, google how to treat to pest, research pest control companies, or speak to their landlord or peers. Any websites containing information about this product should teach the reader how to identify bed bugs, describe what bed bugs look and act like, and describe the product. This website would contain all the key words used in online searches about bug bugs.

    I think this exercise was able to provide a lot of insight in how your target consumers view bedbugs. I think it's important to notice that most people don't know what bed-bugs look like. I live in an apartment now and realized that I personally could probably not tell the difference between a roach and a bedbug. I also found it interesting how most people become aware of their infestation from their neighbor.
