Customer Avatar
This is the avatar I created. The details on the features of the avatar are listed below.
Avatar age:
My prototypical customer is a young, college-aged person (age 18 - 25) who lives in a dorm, apartment, or urban area. For this reason, I chose to make the avatar appear younger.
Avatar gender:
Even though I chose to make the avatar a woman, both men and women can be affected by bed bugs. Neither gender is more or less likely to be affected. Therefore, this product could appeal to both genders.
I chose to make the avatar a woman for two main reasons.
1.) People tend to only live in the dorms during their first year of college (age 18 - 19), and more women attend college directly after completing high school than men. Public universities usually contain more female undergraduate students than male undergraduate students. Therefore, women are more likely to live in college dorms and be affected by the urban pests in these dorms.
2.) Some researchers claim that women have more severe reactions to bed bug bites than men. For this reason, women may be more likely to notice bed bugs.
Avatar appearance:
The avatar is wearing a hoodie, which is typical of a college student. I chose to make this hoodie red so that the color would stand out. I also attempted to make the avatar as average looking as possible.
Does the avatar resemble me?
Yes. I have brown curly hair. I may have unintentionally styled the avatar's hair to look similar to my own. Other than this, the avatar does not look like me.
Did you make your avatar have at least 1 one similar characteristic ( your hair) because you think you have something in common? Maybe it’s subconscious. I think your descriptions were thorough and seem to align with the interviews you’ve done. I thought it was interesting to put a real face to our segment and have learned about this in other classes as well. Hopefully you found it beneficial.
ReplyDeleteI think your avatar definitely resembles your prototypical customer. A lot of young people are either students living in dorms, or are new members of the workforce living in cheap apartments in urban areas, both of which are probably quite prone to bed bugs. I think this can certainly help you market your product more easily because it gives you a clearer picture of who you are trying to reach.
ReplyDeleteI think this assignment allowed you to really pinpoint your customer. Not only did it seem to narrow down your market but you did a great job explaining the reasoning behind each feature which adds value. I like how even though it appeals to both genders, you did a great job demonstrating why the avatar is female. I believe females also are probably more inclined to make this purchase since looking at myself I would be less proactive to go out and purchase this than females. You also backed it up with statistics which adds knowledge for us.
